I’m sure all fellow North Parramatta residents will happily roll out the red carpet to Labor’s Andy Charlton, as we have for the thousands of migrants, who have arrived due to the misadventure of war, natural disasters or in the pursuit of life saving opportunities (Parra-chute Andy goes all or nothing. 26/4). The brilliantly preserved homesteads across our suburb north of the Parramatta River will be an eye-opener for any eastern suburb’s itinerant. While planning the Richie Benaud Oval upgrade, Charlton must try Romano’s Pizzas around the corner. Also, he needs to know that Ying’s Supermarket next door will always have a supply of Daily Telegraphs, the only paper most people read in the west. The bad news for Andy is that his newly elected Labor Parramatta Council is following Cumberland by raising rates by 3.5 per cent in early May. That is not a very friendly welcome.
