THREE cheers for our Police Commissioner Mick Fuller and the Telegraph’s editorial for starting the debate on how best to give substance to sexual consent becoming more evidence based. (An app that just might work, 18/3). Insightful University student Kate Pickard’s retort that the existing or implied consent might be recanted at any time doesn’t entirely sink the idea, but does initiate thought on worthy alternatives. An internet based, password protected site to immediately register any angst about an unexpectedly “uncomfortable” sexual experience would be a permanent time and date stamped record able to be used for future reference if needed. It could log contemporary thoughts of events, giving greater credence to future legal action. If both partners are happy with their “conquests”, that could be co-operatively logged also.
