It must be with great annoyance that those hypocrites imposing hardship and sacrifice on the general public in the name of addressing global climate change keep signalling the exact opposite message with their private jets, carbon-positive international talk-fests and seaside mansions. The issue is well illustrated by the twin jets visit to Scone last week by the Red Baron himself, PM Airbus Albo, and Biggles Bowen. (One destination, two jets for MPs, 2/4). Most might agree they should have taken hot air balloons, considering what they had to say and to demonstrate another practical way of capturing carbon. The farcical event was well captured by Warren’s cartoon, leaving one to conclude that since Albo’s left wing of the Labor Party is so far apart from Bowen and his right wingers that they definitely needed a bigger plane if it was to get off the tarmac in one piece. I was disappointed that Mr Bowen blamed the air force for his predicament when the real problem was his insistence on taking too many staff. Such talk surely will become the most offensive element of this whole saga. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta 3April2024
