It’s probably too apt a literary metaphor to suggest that birds of a feather flock together, but surely the board of Qantas must share responsibility for Alan Joyce’s decision making (We’d claw his money back, 6/9). A $2.7bn profit in the current circumstances of community hardship is atrocious and is surely giving momentum to the palpable outrage directed at Qantas’s behaviour. Mr Joyce has alienated many Australians with his woke agenda, proselytising values which are independent of travel, accommodation or any commercial service offered by his once great company. The damage he has inflicted goes far beyond the pungent odour of aircraft fuel wafting over Mascot’s airfields. Networking with other companies to promote woke ideas and now the Voice agenda fortunately will be ignored by a sensible Aussie population, who unlike Mr Joyce, still call Australia home. Alan Sexton, North Parramatta. 7Sep2023.
